The Staff of Light

In ancient times, the King of all Priests by the name of naMorhan created twelve staffs, nine of which were made of clay, two crafted from wood and the last of silver. After this, he ordered his scholar-knights to find second-hand bushes and to trudge on to death, with the use of an oak tree, the biggest herring of the forest.

His scholars, unitedly, said as a man; "No way... Never!" ... and went off, taking with them the twelve staffs of their King. The wrath of naMorhan was terrible - six of his knights died in the holy fire of his staff, another three were crushed under the weight of a falling cow, and the second from last of them lost his arms, legs, wallet and also his life in the fray... However, the last scholar was able to flee the wrath of naMorhan after persuading him that he had now received all sixteen divided by four, times twenty-six divided by twenty-two magical staffs, and that he was obviously better off than he was before...

After he had left the King of Priests, who had seated himself upon a tree trunk in order to think about this more carefully, he tried to find out the use of the magic staffs, which was, in fate - the ability to gather and bind sunlight and, on an order, to set this light free again... He wasn't very amused by this discovery, and later on he sold them for a few gold pieces to travelling salesman who was obviously half-blind.

On the pages of the book are written the words: "The Legend of Faerghail"

Writ down for all times by the Great Wise Magician Ihl, Grand-Master of the nine and a half schools of the Occult. "This tale takes one back to the times when the difference between good and bad were sharply distinguished. To the times when Moon people (nowadays called were people and looked upon as such) lived in friendship with the peace-loving inhabitants of the known world. The Gods had retired from taking part in the everyday life of Faerghail, and by oath had sworn not to take an active part in its history...

Later, the Lord of Darkness began to enslave the people of Faerghail in order to obtain God-like powers, This Lord, no, this Creature centred his powers in Drogoroth, the dark, icy desert in the North of Faerghail. After enslaving the few peoples living there, he came to the conclusion that he would need one or two convenient allies in order to cast his yoke over the whole world, and so came to Istrildiar, the King of dragons, hungry for revenge upon all men for the hunting and banning of his kind from Faerghail. The power of the Creature and his alliance grew along with their triumphs on the way out of Drogoroth, with the joining of ranks of Orcs and Trolls and other basically awful, ahem, basically evil races...

The peoples of Faerghail and their allied races were hardly able to resist the power from the North and were in grave danger of being overcome..."

The rest of the pages have been demolished by powerful talons and the book itself has been ripped in two...
